I am an entrepreneur striving at balancing family, life, and play. I love life!
I was born Catherine Anne Maughan in Toronto, ON in the late 1950s (a woman doesn’t tell her age) and moved with my family to Parry Sound when I was two. I am the oldest of four.
I have a sister (that’s her on the right),
and 2 supportive brothers.
My husband and I married in 1976 right out of high school and moved to Toronto where at the time we had full-time employment with Bell Canada.
(He was called the Man from Glad because he was all dressed in white.)
I have 3 wonderful children. Two girls and then my boy.
I am the owner/operator of Kate’s Kart, a Dynamic Fast-Casual Take-out Food Trailer. It’s located in the Town of Parry Sound known as the Jewel of the 30,000 Islands. My husband, Mike, founded Kate’s Hot Dog Kart in 2001. In 2002 I became active in the daily operations and expansion of Kate’s Hot Dog Kart until 2004. In 2004 Mike & I sold the business and moved to Barrie, ON to pursue a year-round business venture. In 2010 the opportunity to repurchase the business arose. Since Parry Sound is our hometown, along with my passion for the Hospitality industry we did not hesitate. In 2011 I re-branded the business to Kate’s Kart and then in 2012 expanded the business to a food trailer.
Play to me involves so many interests. I love sports both as a spectator and participant. I love reading, knitting, and my biggest passion is hospitality. Betty Crocker’s Cookbook for Boys and Girls was my first Cookbook.
